By default, the Canvas Gradebook alerts students as soon as you make any comment or assign any grade to any one of their assignments. Occasionally, this can result in confusion as students reach out to their instructors about incompletely graded activities. If you want your students to only receive Canvas alerts after you've finished grading or commenting on all assignments, you need to hide the grades in the Canvas Gradebook for that assignment by switching that assignment to have a "manual grade posting policy."
