Being Human in the Age of AI: Implications for Liberal Education
Salazar 1061 or CTET Zoom room

– 1:00 pm
Join Prof. John Sullins III, from SSU's Philosophy department for a conversation about the future of education. From John, "As we are preparing our courses for the Spring, we can now think a little more strategically about how we want to approach the promises and perils of generative AI. Generative AI challenges the notions that humans are creative and machines are not. This has been a long time assumption that helped the academy confront the mechanism of the Industrial Revolution. Now that this detente is under question again and as members of the academy we have to find a new operating assumption. We will discuss what kinds of creativity we need to foster in our students and what kinds we can pass on to AI processes.
If you wish, please bring one assignment that you are planning to do in the Spring that addresses finding the role of the human in the new age of AI."
