Canvas Gradebook Power Hour: Weights, Pitfalls, and Clear Grades

As the semester wraps up, now’s the time to make sure your Canvas Gradebook accurately reflects your students’ progress. In this session, we’ll cover how to use Assignment Group weights effectively, identify and fix common Gradebook issues (like resubmits or missing grades), and ensure students always see an accurate course grade.

Even if you can’t attend, take a moment to check your Canvas Gradebook! An accurate and up-to-date gradebook helps students succeed by letting them know exactly how they’re doing in your course. Remember: Canvas only counts assignments that have received a grade, so if a student didn’t submit work but you didn’t manually enter a zero, Canvas actually excludes that assignment from their total calculation.
