Scantron
For faculty who give in-person multiple-choice tests, CTET maintains a Scantron Score test scoring machine. This machine will scan both blue and green (but not red!) Scantron forms; can mark incorrect answers, total score, and percentage score; and can upload the test results (such as item analysis) to a thumb drive for later review. There is documentation for the machine with it, as well as online (see Resources, below).
CTET has also installed Scantron's Score-IT analysis software on five of our drop-in workstations so that faculty can immediately review their students' overall results, perform item analyses, and generally ensure that their tests measure what they are expected to.
Best Practices
- CTET's Scantron Score can only scan green or blue scantron forms, NOT pink forms. Please make sure to direct your students to buy the appropriate forms.
- CTET's Scantron Score test scoring machine is available only during CTET's business hours. You can review our current business hours on our Contact Us page.
- CTET keeps a thumb drive handy for faculty to use to transfer test summaries from the Score machine to one of the local computers.

Support
CTET staff are happy to review the instructions for the Scantron Score test scanner with you. However, CTET does not provide a scanning service. Faculty are responsible for ensuring that their key is correctly filled out, for scanning all of the tests by themselves, and then for doing any item analysis at our workstations.
If your question isn’t answered by the above resources, we encourage you to visit CTET either in person or via Zoom, submit a help request, or just email us. You can find our current business hours and contact information, including our Zoom link, on our Contact Us page.
